The room was white. There was nothing except for an Espeon and Umbreon floating on a cloud. Miguel opened his eyes and saw nothing, except for his brother lying on the ground. He stood up and ran to the Espeon, “Hey Michael. MICHAEL! WAKE UP!”

“Ha… uhm. Miguel? Is that you? You look like an Umbreon”

“Well, you look like an Espeon.” Miguel answered. Michael stood up and walked around.

“Where are we? And how did we come here?” Said Michael.

“I don’t know.” Miguel answered. A mirror appeared out of nothing before them. When they looked in the mirror they both saw themselves as humans, but after that, their reflections changed in that of the Umbreon and Espeon they now are.

“This can’t be real!” said Michael.

“No, this must be a dream!” Miguel replied.

“Of course is this a dream. But that doesn’t mean this isn’t real,” a deep voice said. Michael and Miguel turned around to see the source of the voice. They saw a glowing body, who turned in an Espeon first, but after a few seconds being an Espeon, it turned in an Umbreon. Michael and Miguel dropped their jaw, but decided to get closer and examine the being.

“Uhm… Hello… Who are you?” Asked Michael

“And where are we?” added Miguel.

“Calm down, boys. There is no need to panic here. My name is Martin. I’m the Spirit Guide of you both,” he said.

“Our Spirit Guide?” Michael asked. Martin nodded, as he turned in an Espeon again.

“But how are you doing that?” Miguel reacted on his sudden change.

“Well, for some reason I can’t show you my true form. But as I am the Spirit Guide of both of you, I can take form of the same species as you and change between them.” Martin explained.

“Okay. But where are we now? Is this a dream?” Michael asked.

“Sort of,” Martin said, as he turned back in an Espeon, “This place is a place between dream and reality, known as the dream connection. Both Michael and Miguel looked at each other, before facing Martin again. “The dream connection?”

“Yes. For what I know, you both could use a light form of telepathy when you were human, correct?”

“Yes, that’s correct,” they both said.

“Well, that telepathy you both shared has improved since you two began transforming. This way, you two are able to communicate with each other via your dreams. The only thing that’s needed to let this work is that you two need to be asleep at the same time.”

“Ah, I see. But why am I an Espeon here?” Michael asked.

“And I an Umbreon?”

“That’s because in the dream connection you both look like your true form. Even if your actual bodies haven’t finished their transformations yet.”

“Transformations? So we weren’t hallucinating. We’re actually becoming an Umbreon and Espeon,” Miguel said. Martin nodded.

“How is that possible?” Michael asked.

“That’s because you’re both becoming Pokéumans,” Martin explained, as he turned back in an Umbreon. Michael and Miguel looked at each other, confused.

“Pokéumans?” Martin nodded.

“There is a story that will explain everything about what’s happening to you two. But since we’re in a dream here, I can show it to you two.” Michael and Miguel looked at each other again and then nodded.

“Okay, Martin. We’re ready,” Michael began.

“You may show us,” Miguel finished.

“Ok then, I will bring you back to the time after the dinosaurs, but before the humans arrived.”

The space started to change shape and took form of an open field. When you looked to the north, there was a big city. They walked to the city and they were amazed with what that they saw. They saw various Pokémon of all sizes and species.

“I know. It looks unbelievable. Before the time of the humans, the Pokémon were the most intelligent species that lived on the world. They were even intelligencer then humans now. As you can see, they were able to build complete civilizations.” Michael and Miguel took their time to look around and they were amazed with what they saw. There were Pokémon everywhere. Pokémon kids playing around, some little stores like food stores and café’s, but also big companies. They were even a battle arena.

“This is amazing. But how can it be that they don’t exist anymore?” Miguel asked.

“The right question is why that they don’t exist in our world anymore.” Martin said. “That happened in a different time. But first, I bring you to the time when the first humans were discovered.”

The space began to change again, and suddenly they stood in a space that looks like a research lab. They were various Pokémon in the lab who were wearing lab coats and some were also wearing protective glasses. A door opened and a Machoke walked inside and was holding a Riolu.

“Hey Victor,” he said, “look who was sneaking around again.” A Lucario, who was wearing a long white coat, walked to the Machoke and took the Riolu.

“Thank you, Charles, I will take care of him,” he said. He took the Riolu with him and placed him on a chair. “Vincent, why are you here again? You know that you may not come here.”

“Sorry dad. I just wondered if you already found something about those creatures I saw several months ago.” The Lucario took some time to think.

“Well, Vincent, we have decided to call those creatures humans. After observing them, we figured out that they intelligence is increasing,” the Lucario said.

“And what now about them?” Asked the Riolu.

“well, there are many things we still have to know about them. So we have to observe them from closer by. So we invented something to help us.” “Ow, what?” the Riolu asked again.

“Just take a look to Charles, he’s going to test it out right now.”

Everybody in the lab was looking at the Machoke while he was holding a stone. The stone started to shine brightly. After the brightness had disappeared, a human was standing on the place where the Machoke stood. “Whoa! What just happened, dad?” the Riolu asked. The Lucario smiled.

“That rock that Charles was holding gives us the power to take the appearance of humans. That way, we can observe them better.

The whole place started to change again. It looked like the whole room was melting away. “So the Pokémon lived before the humans and they made those rocks when the humans started to appear,” Michael said.

“But what about Pokéumans?” Miguel asked.

“Patience,” Martin said as he changed in an Espeon again, “Just look further to what’s happening.”

Soon enough, a cloud appeared and showed them several things about what happened after this event. They saw many different Pokémon using these rocks to take the appearance of humans and started to live with the humans. Then they saw that these human changed Pokémon had children with the humans. “Ok, what just happened there?” Miguel asked.

“Well, many Pokémon were chosen to become part of an experiment. It was their task to live with the humans and observe them. To their observation, they found out that the humans were gaining intelligence very quickly, and these chosen ones did help them to gain intelligence more faster. And through the years, they became more attached to the humans and started to form families with them.”

“So, everything was going great?” Michael asked.

“In the beginning, yes. But then, this happened,” Martin answered as the space started to reform again. They were in a room. This room was full with cages. And in each cage, they was a Pokémon sitting. Michael and Miguel looked to each other, awestruck.

A tall man in a white coat came in and took one of the cages that was holding an Electrike. “C’mon, boy. Give us some energy,” the man said in a cruel way.

The Electrike looked suspicious to him and said, “Why should I give you guys energy?”

“Because if you don’t, I do this!”

The man took out an iron stick with a hot tip and poked the Electrike with it. “Auw! Stop that!,” the Electrike screamed, but the man kept going with it. “Auw, please! Stop it!,” he said.

“Do what I say!” the man said.

“Never!” the Electrike answered.

“Then, take your punishment!”

Suddenly, there was a big bong in the wall as the wall collapsed. A group of many different Pokémon came in, as one of them tackled the man, “Leave our friends alone!” he growled.

“Please! Don’t do anything to me!” the man begged.

“Why should I?” the Pokémon, who happens to be a Manectric, said as he readied an attack. Just before the attack hit, the room vanished.

“Wow! What just happened there,” both Michael and Miguel said as they were shocked.

“Just look down,” Martin said as an big open field appeared under the cloud where they were standing on. They saw how Pokémon were fighting against humans. But just not an ordinary fight. More like a fight for life and death.

“What’s happening there, Martin?” Michael asked.

“As soon the humans discovered the powers the Pokémon have, they started to cage them and did everything to let them use their powers for them. Even if they had to torture them to death. The Pokémon defended themselves and so began the big war against the humans and Pokémon.”

“And … how did it end?” Miguel asked.

“It looked like that there was no end coming to the war. And the Pokémon became very exhausted and tired of it. They couldn’t stand it anymore, always having to fight for their lives. That’s why, … well … Have a look yourself.”

This time, it was night. Several Pokémon, who looked a little depressed, were sitting around a campfire, trying to keep themselves warm. Suddenly, a Lucario came closer to the small group.

“Uhm, hey guys. Can … Can I join?”

The group looked at the Lucario suspicious as one of them, a Zoroark, stood up and spoke, “Why should we let you join, Vincent? This mess we’re all in is all your fault.”

“Why … Why do you guys always blame me that this is all my fault?” he answered.

“Because it is all the fault of your dad, so it is also yours!” a Blaziken answered.

“It isn’t my dad’s fault!” he screamed.

“Yes it is! And now go away before we do you something!” a Servine threatened him.

“No! I’m not going anywhere!”

“As you want!” the Zoroark said as the group went to Vincent and pushed him around until he fell to the ground. They wanted to punch him so badly, but they were stopped by someone’s voice.

“Hey guys! Stop it!” a Mienshao said as she ran to the group, standing before Vincent. “What do you want, Samantha?”

“Leave him alone! He hasn’t done anything wrong!” she said.

“This isn’t your business, Samantha. Get out of the way.”

“As long as you’re harming him for doing nothing, it IS my business!” she demanded as she helped Vincent to stand up.

“Get out of the way, now!” the Blaziken said as he wanted to push Samantha out of the way.

“STOP THIS FIGHTING RIGHT NOW!” they heard a voice screaming, coming from the sky. Everyone looked in the sky as they became stunned to see Arceus appearing before them.

“Lord… Lord Arceus!” they said.

“STOP THIS FIGHTING RIGHT NOW! IT IS NOT BECAUSE THAT HIS FATHER INTERFERED WITH THESE HUMANS, THAT HE OR HIS FATHER ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR WHAT HAS HAPPENED. EVEN IF NOBODY INTERFERED, THE HUMANS WOULD STILL HAVE BECOME POWER HUNGRY IN TIME.”

“We … We’re sorry, Lord Arceus.”

“IT’S NOT TO ME YOU HAVE TO BE SORRY!” Arceus said.

The group of Pokémon looked at Vincent who was he was helped by Samantha to get up. “Uhm … Vincent, we’re sorry. Can … can you forgive us?” the Servine pleaded.

Vincent grinned, “So the only thing that was needed to make you stop was Arceus himself coming down.”

“We’re really sorry, Vincent. Please … forgive us.” The Zoroark said.

“Well, we can’t stay mad forever at each other. You’re forgiven,” Vincent said. Vincent walked up to see Arceus, “Uhm… is there another reason why you’re here for, Lord Arceus?”

Arceus nodded, “I’VE COME FOR THE PROBLEM WITH THE HUMANS. NORMALLY I MAY NOT INTERFERE, BUT AS I LOOK WHERE THIS IS GOING, I CAN’T IGNORE WHAT’S HAPPENING.”

“Can’t … can’t you simply destroy all those humans, Lord Arceus?” The Servine began.

Arceus shook his head, “I DON’T HAVE THE POWER TO DESTROY EVERYTHING AND EVERYONE OF A CERTAIN SPECIMEN. IT WOULDN’T BE FAIR, TOO. THEY’RE HUMANS WHO’VE BECOME POWER HUNGRY, BUT ALSO HUMANS THAT HAVE BECOME BELOVED WITH US. THERE IS ONLY ONE SOLUTION THAT’S THE BEST FOR BOTH OF US.” Arceus paused a while when he looked in the air. “THE ONLY SOLUTION IS IF WE ALL DISSAPEAR.”

The group was shocked, “Dis … disappear? What do you mean, Lord Arceus?” the Zoroark said amazed.

“I KNOW THAT YOU WOULD BE SHOCKED, BUT IT IS THE ONLY WAY. AS YOU ALL KNOW, I HAVE THE POWER TO TRAVEL BETWEEN DIMENSIONS. I KNOW A DIMENSION SIMILAR TO THIS ONE WHERE WE ALL CAN LIVE. BUT FOR THAT, I NEED THE HELP OF YOU.”

Vincent stepped forward, “What do we need to do, Lord Arceus.”

“THEY’RE MANY THINGS THAT HAS TO BE DONE BEFORE WE GO. MY POWER IS NOT STRONG ENOUGH TO OPEN A PORTAL FOR ALL POKÉMON BY MYSELF. SO I NEED YOU TO GO TO THE TEMPLES OF DIALGA, PALKIA AND GIRATINA TO ASK FOR THEIR HELP. ALSO, EVERYTHING OF OUR EXISTENCE HAS TO BE ERASED FROM THIS WORLD AND EVERY POKÉMON HAS TO KNOW ABOUT THIS PLAN.”

“But Arceus, my lord, if we tell someone that we saw you, nobody will believe us. And we wouldn’t be able to summon Dialga, Palkia or Giratina,” the Servine explained.

Arceus nodded, “I WAS ALREADY AWARE OF THAT. THAT’S WHY I ENTRUST EACH OF YOU WITH ONE OF THESE.” Arceus his plates appeared from his body. Five of his plates shrank and were given to each of them.

“BY HOLDING THESE PLATES, EVERYONE WILL BELIEVE THAT YOU SAW ME, AS THESE ARE PART OF ME. THEN, ANOTHER THING YOU NEED ARE THESE,” Arceus added as three orbs appeared and were given to Vincent. “WITH THESE ORBS YOU WILL BE ABLE TO SUMMON DIALGA, PALKIA AND GIRATINA AND ASK FOR THEIR HELP. IT SEEMS THAT YOU KNOW WHAT TO DO?”

The group nodded. “I will ask the help of Uxie, Mesprit and Azelf to combine their powers to erase all humans their memories. We will meet again on this place in one year.”

Arceus ran into the sky as he disappeared. The last thing that could be seen was the group of Pokémon discussing with each other as they walked their separated ways. After that, the space reformed again into a field similar to the field they were. The only difference is that thousands or even millions of Pokémon were standing everywhere. Arceus was floating in the air as he was soon joined by Dialga, Palkia and Giratina.

“WELCOME EVERYONE! THE TIME HAS COME TO LEAVE THIS WORLD FOREVER AND GO TO THE OTHER. JOINED WITH OUR POWERS, WE WILL OPEN A PORTAL THAT WILL BRING US ALL TO ANOTHER DIMENSION WHERE WE CAN START A NEW LIFE.” Arceus and the Dragon Pokémon closed their eyes as they concentrated their powers as a portal of time and space opened in thin air. “NOW THAT THE PORTAL IS OPENED, WE CAN ALL GO.”

“Lord Arceus! Can I ask something before we go?” a small, pink Pokémon said as he flew to Arceus.

“YES, MEW, WHAT IS IT?” Arceus answered.

“How will we be sure that the humans will never remember us again? And if they would remember, how would we be sure that they don’t look for a way to enter our new world?”

“WE CANNOT BE SURE, MEW. WE CAN ONLY HOPE THAT THIS NEVER HAPPEN.”

“Then, the only way to be sure is if someone stays here,” Mew said.

“YES, MEW.”

There was a short silence before Mew said, “I stay, Lord Arceus. I stay and keep an eye on them.”

“ARE YOU SURE, MEW? THERE IS A CHANCE THAT THERE WILL BE NO WAY TO REJOIN US IN THE OTHER DIMENSION,” Arceus answered.

Mew nodded, “I’m sure, Lord Arceus.”

“VERY WELL, MEW. MAY THE ODD’S BE EVER IN YOUR FAVOR.”

“Thank you, Lord Arceus.”

“NOW, VINCENT. WILL YOU AND YOUR FRIENDS GO FIRST?” Arceus asked to the group of Pokémon he asked first to do his tasks. They nodded as they entered the portal, and soon enough, one by one all the other Pokémon entered the portal. Arceus, Dialga, Palkia and Giratina entering the portal as last. Mew watched how the portal slowly closed and flew away once it was. The space reformed again and Michael and Miguel were back on their cloud.

“So that’s the history of earth and the Pokémon,” Michael said.

“But what happened next?” Miguel asked.

“Patience. For many millennia, Mew watched over the humans and nothing happened. Until this event happened a hundred years ago,” Martin answered as the space under the cloud reformed as they saw a Jungle. They saw a man walking around. Suddenly, he stopped walking as he picked something from the ground and went on. Then, the space reformed again and this time they were in a lab. They saw a machine with a small tube in it with some hairs.

“Uhm, Martin. What’s this?” Miguel asked.

“The man you saw in the Jungle was Mr. X. He found some hairs of Mew. And, he’s trying to make a clone from it with that machine,” Martin said. Suddenly, the machine they saw exploded and it seems it unleashed a shockwave.

“What the … what has happened?” Michael said.

“Keep looking,” Martin answered as the smoke cleared up. Once the smoke was cleared up, they saw that Mr. X had changed into a Mewtwo. Then, the space reshaped again. This time, they were in a room with a group of six or seven young human, kids and teenagers, who seems to have some parts of their bodies changed into parts of Pokémon bodies. It also seems that Mr. X was also there.

“What … what are you going to do … with us?” a small girl said, terrified.

“You will come with me. I have plans for you,” he said as he came closer to the them. Suddenly, he was hit by a pink shining ball and blew away as a small pink Pokémon flew to the group of young humans. “Well, look who we have here. If it isn’t the Mew,” Mr. X said as he floated back in the air.

“I’m not going to let you do what you want to these,” Mew said.

“What are you going to do? You’re not strong enough to beat me,” Mr. X said.

“Maybe not, but that doesn’t mean that I can’t protect these ones,” Mew said as he fired another ball, making up dust and smoke. Once the dust and smoke were cleared, Mew and the young humans had disappeared. Mr. X grinned, “You maybe got me this time, Mew. But this is only the beginning.”

The space reshaped once more and reformed into a well lit room where Mew and the young humans could be seen. They had all their eyes closed.

“What are they doing?” Miguel asked.

“Mew is showing them the same story I showed you, telepathy.”

Then, it seems that they had finished as they opened their eyes again. “And … what does that have to do with us?” a boy said.

“Well, my little one, I believe that you all are offspring’s of those Pokémon who became families with humans. That’s why you have some Pokémon genes in your bodies.” The Mew answered.

“And now we’re turning into them?” a girl said amazed. Mew nodded, “I’m afraid that the machine Mr. X used to try to clone me has unleashed a genetic shockwave. So I think this shockwave has caused your genes to activate and turn you into Pokémon.”

“And how long will this take?”

“I don’t know. I also don’t know if it will be permanent or not. But I’m afraid that …”

“… we’re not gonna be able to go home again as long as we stay like this.”

Mew nodded, “But don’t be afraid. If it will happen that you become completely Pokémon, I make sure that you will teach everything you need from me of fighting and moves you can use.”

“And what if more humans start to change?”

“Well, I guess I have to try my best to safe as many as I can,” Mew answered.

The humans looked at each other as there was a short silence. Then, they nodded in agreement. “I think I can talk for us all that we would be glad to help.”

“That would be great. Now, how do I call you guys?”

A girl, about the age of 14, stood up and said, “My name is Lily. And this is my little brother, Bruce.”

“I’m Charles, nice to meet you,” said a boy.

“Just call me Victor,” said a boy about the age of 15 that was just sitting down.

“I’m Kiara,” said a younger girl, sitting next to Victor.

Then the boy who talked for everybody as he was their leader said, “I’m Martin. I’m glad to help you.”

Mew nodded. “Thank you, everybody. I promise I shall do everything I can to help you out. As you both are humans and Pokémon, I shall call our group Pokéumans from now on.”

Everybody seems to agree with that name. “And how shall we call you?” Martin asked.

“Good question, let me think about that. I think, from this day on, I shall call myself Satoshe,” Mew answered.

Everyone nodded in agreement, and at that mark, the room disappeared and Michael and Miguel were back on the cloud of dreams.

There was a short silence beforeMichael  said something. “So…. Those who had kidnapped us are from the bad guys?”

“Yes,” Martin began, “they’re called Pokéxtinction. Mostly they brainwash those they capture.” Miguel looked down, a tear dropping down.

“Hey, Miguel, what’s wrong?” Michael said as he came closer to Miguel.

“I’m so sorry, brother. I let you down. I had to try harder.” Michael shook his head.

“No, that’s not true. I demanded you to leave. Otherwise they had captured us both.”

“That’s maybe true, but….”

“No but’s, brother. Cheer up a little.” Michael said.

“Okay. Maybe you’re right. Maybe those who found me can help me to find you.”

“That’s more like it,” Michael said as he cuddled each other.

“I promise you I shall find you and safe you.”

“I know you will,” Michael said. As they were cuddling, they slowly start to fade away.

“Huh? What’s happening? Why are we fading away?” Miguel asked.

“It’s nothing,” Martin said, “you’re both waking up. Michael and Miguel looked at each other again.

“See you next night?” Miguel asked.

“See you next night,” Michael answered.

Soon enough, both were faded away as they were waking up.

After all that time, I finally got chapter 2 of Band of Twins done. The reasons why it took so long is firstly because I got involved in other projects and second because I couldn't decide what I should do with Martin. Anyway, I hope you enjoy it.
